Rosetta Stone

The history of the Rosetta Stone dates back to 196 BC. By decree of the Ptolemaic King Ptolemy V, it is inscribed in three languages: ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs, demotic, and ancient Greek.

Discovered in 1799, this script is the first bilingual ancient Egyptian script discovered in modern times. Until now it was impossible to decipher this language, but the discovery of this bilingualism made it possible to understand the hieroglyphs.
